On holiday lockdown!! - 6 replies

AlisonM Posted by AlisonM in Holidays in Fuertuventura on Wed Mar 18, 2020 4:58pm

Hi - I am here in Puerto Rosario on holiday with my hubby & friend as of 14th March. We are frequent visitors and this trip was part of our plan to look for a property to buy for retirement. Obviously things haven’t gone to plan from day 1 really !! At this point I am wondering if we will get our flights back on 29th ( they may get cancelled altogether). In that situation does anyone know of a possible rental opportunity for us ? Perhaps a holiday rental owner with guests not arriving ? We are all in the big unknown of course but just wondering if this may be an option. Thank you all for reading.

All Hotel Guests Leaving Island by Tuesday - 0 replies

Cyberion Posted by Cyberion in Coronavirus discussion in Fuertuventura: Covid-19 news and updates on Wed Mar 18, 2020 12:09pm

I have heard that ALL Hotels on the Island will be closed by Tuesday. UK Air Carriers RyanAir, Jet2, Thompson, TUI and EasyJet will be repatriating UK visitors by end of day on Monday.

Not sure how much of this is true as I have collated various messages from Airlines, Hotels and others sources.

I guess that would then make the Island one of the safest places to live until all the Pandemic passes.

As of today there have been 8,227 Deaths world-wide linked to the Coronavirus. In the UK alone each year over 8,000 people die from the Flu. We should therefore put things a little in perspective and not panic.

Just stay safe, follow advised medical advice and WASH THOSE HANDS.

I see someone is looking for a decent internet connection  and I can recommend Inet Sistems We are in the Casilla de Costa complex at Villaverde and have been paying through the nose to a service supplier who shall be nameless. We had to have a tel line, a mobile number they pushed all sorts of things we did not need but they were all we could find. The  most annoying thing was the price kept going up and as we only were using it for four months per year but had to pay for the year so I was desperate for something A. cheaper B. more flexible and C.reliable.

Jeronimo......I found 'Inet Sistems' and although early days have been so impressed. No more Hours of waiting in a shop doorway and just providing exactly what I want for streaming etc at less than half of the price of the previous provider. Their office is close to the Mercadona here at Corralejo...........good luck.
