Hi - I am here in Puerto Rosario on holiday with my hubby & friend as of 14th March. We are frequent visitors and this trip was part of our plan to look for a property to buy for retirement. Obviously things haven’t gone to plan from day 1 really !! At this point I am wondering if we will get our flights back on 29th ( they may get cancelled altogether). In that situation does anyone know of a possible rental opportunity for us ? Perhaps a holiday rental owner with guests not arriving ? We are all in the big unknown of course but just wondering if this may be an option. Thank you all for reading.

I SUGGEST YOU CONTACT YOUR TRAVEL PEOPLE/FLIGHT PEOPLE AS IT HAS BEEN MENTIONED THAT ALL TOURIST WILL BE EVAVACUATED / REPATRIATED AS OF MONDAY.

THIS BEING THE CASE YOU WILL BE UNABLE TO STAY HERE WHETHER IT BE PRIVATE ACCOMADATION OR A HOTEL.

i have just contacted someone who rents properties and been told "they are not allowed to rent until further notice, and the army are checking holiday rentals to make sure they are vacant ! "

Thank you I have been told this but also that a long let if around 6 months or more  is not classed as a holiday let.

IF YOU DO NOT NORMALLY RESIDE HERE,HAVE AN NIE OR RESIDENCIA YOU ARE A TOURIST.

YOU COULD BE ASKED TO SHOW A UTILITIES BILL OR CONTRACT OF RENTAL.

Thank you as it happens because we own a property in Spain I do have an NIE number although don’t know it off hand. I suppose I could get such things including utility bills from Spain emailed over. I appreciate your advice and understand this process would not be easy but it may still be preferable for us. So many health benefits etc to being here which is why we came in the first place obviously not expecting to be plunged into instant lockdown.
