We are very excited as we are planning to move to Fuerteventura in the next few months. We have a rescue Greyhound. Has anyone got experience of flying their dog from Gatwick? There seem to be a few companies that do this - we will probably fly out the day before to get things ready for her. Any advice or recommendations gratefully received!

Hi.  We brought our 3 dogs over and handled it all ourselves.  However, that was nearly 5 years ago.  At that time there were only 3 airlines that would fly a dog here, and sadly 2 of those went bust.  As far as I am aware, only Tui will now fly dogs over. However, at that time we could not go with them as the crate for one of our dogs was too big to go in the hold, and your beautiful dog will have a bigger crate that that.

It was very easy to organise their flight ourselves, and saved us well over £1,000!  All in all, it cost us just a little over £900 for all three.  When we got here we then sold their crates.

Thank you so much - the links are really helpful. Tui do still take dogs according to their website so I will get in contact with them. First thing, measure dog and see if they can take the size of crate she will need! Having her on the same flight does make sense. :-)

We flew our two dogs over with us 3 years ago, and travelled on the same flight (TUI). Handling this end is a breeze and it was good for us to drop them off at cargo in the UK and pick them up 6 hrs later on Fuerteventura. All they had to do was sleep in the hold. The flight crew even gave us a report on their wellbeing after we had taken off.

Everything went really well throughout with our any problems. Just make sure you have all the paperwork and register her with a VET here as soon as you can.
