Can anybody give me an update on the condition of this resort now regarding the emptiness of properties there. Also can anybody explain exactly why it is for best part a ghost town.I have seen quite a lot of properties there that look very nice and are reasonably priced. Will it take off and become a desirable place to live. Many thanks for any replies.

Hi we are residents in costa de Antigua and in normal times it’s far from a ‘ghost town’ it’s a residential area and although we have 3 hotels in the area it’s more a local village.  I’m sure we’d all like the government to spend some money on the surrounding area as there are a few buildings  that need knocking down as there are in all of the island. It’s a nice place to live with a nice community and hopefully stays that way without turning into an ‘up and coming’ tourist hot spot.

Thanks graham for your reply, it seems there is some very nice affordable properties there. I have seen some YouTube stuff of Antigua and it showed it being very quiet with loads of empty properties. Have the developers gone bust or are they just not selling. Obviously Antigua is in a nice position. I am looking to possibly move over so was looking for a good buy.

Hi, there are quite a lot of empty properties here that arn't for sale for one reason or another whether they were illegally built or not who knows but there are some bargains to be had for sure.  If I was you I’d wait as who knows what the next 12/18 months will bring almost certainly another recession I would expect.  Good luck.
