Property wanted to buy: 1 or 2 bed. apartment

I am in the process of selling a property in the UK that I have been renting out. I would like to buy an apartment to rent out in Corralejo and also to use for me and my family. I have been put off by the community fees, water, electric, maintenance costs etc., and 24% tax. Would I be restricted to the amount of weeks I could spend there. Any advice, pros and cons would be much appreciated.
