Hi, im looking to buy a property in fuerteventura but woudnt live permanently there, i would go for about 3 months then come back to the uk for 3. Would it be better to buy in a complex such as a hotel? I was thinking more so someone there can keep an eye on the property while me and hubby are not there.

Also i would prefer to put the property in my sons name so when i am no longer here he can inherit it without the hassle of if me or hubby ended up in a home he could lose it. Any advice welcome.

Complex is best bet. You are right to put it on your son's when you purchase. If now or in the future you want to rent to tourists make sure it has a tourist license. Most important is check on the size of the community charge as this will be paid monthly if you are there or not and is the downfall of many a purchaser.

I also wanted a property to use for short periods of time in Spain and the UK. We were looking in Mainland Spain but while on holiday in Fuerteventura a couple of weeks ago we found a very nice little property and will pick up the keys in February. I will be leaving the property to my Daughter eventually. We went to the A Place In The Sun exhibition in Birmingham and met Alex from the Goldacres estate agency on the Island. He showed us lots of different properties Duplexes to Bungalows and Apartments. All of them were in secure locations that you could lock up and leave. It is definitely better to use the service of an estate agent rather than try and find a property yourself. Looking at the pictures on Rightmove or Zoopla is nothing like visiting the actual property itself. Once we did find a property Alex took us to the Bank of our choice to open an account introducing us to the staff, then he took us to the Notaries office and introduced us to a solicitor/lawyer. They are now sorting out all of the legal side for us including a Will once the property is in my name. The lawyer will be able to advise you on any queries that you may have regarding inheritance and obtaining all necessary documents or cards required. Goldacres also introduced us to a Money exchange company which after doing my own research we decided to use. It may all seem a bit daunting when you are considering buying a property overseas, I was very nervous. However, with all the help we received it proved to be very easy indeed.

Most Estate Agents on Fuerteventura will help like that. We are in the process of selling our 4 Bedroom Town House in Caleta as we have now built a place in one of the villages and our Estate Agent Just4Sales have told us they offer the same services when someone buys property from them.
