Hi all, we’re due to come to El Cotillo in January for our usual 3 week visit. I have read that you have to wear masks while walking on the beach , as we are walkers and not sunbathers we walk several hours each day on the beach. The thought of doing this with a mask in the heat is making us think twice about coming ! Can anyone tell me if this is true and being enforced ? Thanks

Technically you are supposed to wear a mask when walking around on the beach but very few in Cotillo do. Also there is a clause that you do not need a mask in outdoor spaces outside conurbations, but I wouldn't argue that one with the Policia! We always carry a mask and wear it as soon as we approach town.

I would hope you obey the law when on the island. If I saw you on the beach you would be asked why you don't obey. Plenty more would do the same. Come by all means but expect to be confronted and reported if needs be. I'm not being nasty by the way. I'm in my 60's and no way am I allowing anyone to make me ill, or worse.

Thanks to firstly the Spanish banning travel from UK , then Boris banning it too , you can relax we won’t be coming. Highly unlikely to infect you on a beach anyway unless you were in contact with some one who had the virus , for 15 mins or more, and coughing at you .
