Jim,

Thanks for replying and I hope all goes well for you. Can I ask you if you have private health insurance that covers you over there? I'd imagine that is an important consideration and for peace of mind. Keep us up to date on what you do please.

I would have thought that being an EU Citizen, Healthcare as a pensioner is transferable. The UK was in the EU when I moved, and I have not found the need for additional healthcare cover. I think the need for external healthcare insurance is required by none EU citizens and those who are under state pensionable age.

Yes, you're correct but as you age it's a possibility you might need scans, mri's, etc, and altyhough you will get the state insurance, etc, you'll have to wait in line for all those procedures but if you have private insurance you get them pronto if you have the right plan. That was what I was advising, it's very important in my view. More so as you age.

You are right Valentino. I guess this is the same in any country, including one's home country. Money always buys you a place at the top of the queue.

Saying this, the Private Hospital in Fuerteventura is exceptional. The only other thing to consider is, and I know this sounds terrible at our age, is what happens on your Death. I know many people who have a Funeral policy which includes repatriation to their mother country.

Jim,

Just wondering if there's any update on your moving to Corralejo? Thinking about it myself and interested to find all the info I can. By the way I love the island, especially the Corralejo area. Has the right mix for what I require and like you Jim I hail from Ireland.

Jim,

Any update on the move from Ireland, or are you still in the land of the living at all?
