CHECK OUT ALL THE LICENCES ETC.. THAT YOU NEED AND THE TAX THAT YOU WILL HAVE TO PAY AS A NON RESIDENT.
BUYING TO RENT IS A GOOD IDEA FOR LONG TERM AS WELL WITH LESS PROBLEMS AS LONG AS YOU GET THE RIGHT TENANT.
My advice is:
1. Find an English Speaking Estate Agent such as Just4Sales (Caleta) or GoldAcres (Corralejo). They will provide lots of advice and if you buy from them will do most of the work for you.
2. If you are looking for a place to rent out, you MUST have a license to do this so make sure you either buy a place with a licence or look into getting one. They are not easy due to a lack of rentals for residents.
3. You can do things at a distance but of course, make sure you pop over to view as many properties as possible.
4. It is a good time to look as the prices are relatively low.
5. Tenants can be a nightmare and so it is better if you have someone to manage things here if you are not here (Cleaning, checking in and out etc.).
6. If you but an apartment in a community complex don't forget to cater for community changes, water and electricity each money. Community charges can be the dowfall of many as they forget you must pay even if the property ais empty.
Good Luck

Hello Carmen Villazan in Caleta is also English speaking, and i would recomend Glex lawyers in Rosario also English speaking, and Sabadel banco can arrange a bank account in around 24 hrs allow 11% on top of purchase price, taxes etc and can take several weeks to have water and electricity connected at your new property, also be aware some individuals will claim to "look after" your property, clean, rent it out for you etc and will abuse the the situation letting friends or aquaitances stay for free or tell you its been only rented for 3 days and they pocket 4 days rent. and remember tax will need to be paid on earnings,

BEWARE of MODELO210
This is so called "2nd home" or "luxury" tax. The idea is you will pay for the income generated from the property, even if you don't let it out.
This is computed on the basis of the number of days you owned the property and "Valor Catastral" which you may find on your IBI (equivalent of council tax).
Great many people DO NOT BOTHER with modelo210, your choice apparently the law states IT MUST be PAID.
Good luck!
