We've just had some installed by Bioenergy   We also had a quote from Solar Land, but preferred the service from BioEnergy.

Solar Land didn't bother to come round to discuss it or see the site, and when they sent a quote they had positioned the panels on a piece of land that wasn't safe!  We advised them and they sent another quote showing the position on the pitched roof of the garage, with some panels facing east and others facing west.

BioEnergy came round to discuss it and placed them on our flat roof facing south.

The only thing that we were disappointed in is that we had been considering getting batteries, and thought if we didn't get them straight away we could add them later if we wanted to. Apparently this is not so as it is a different inverter, which is the most expensive part of solar panels, and to change it now would cost about the same again.  Also, the fact that as the panels are connected to the grid (in order to sell back what we're not using) if the grid goes off then so do our panels.  Apparently it is a safety thing so if they're working on the grid power from our panels won't be going through.  We didn't know this and had wrongly assumed that if there was a power cut we would still have power from the panels.

I can recommend BioEnergy, they did a good job.

Following with interest. We too had a lengthy quote from Solarland. Purely based on information I sent them by email. I asked for a site visit to discuss options. But no response. We need someone to look at the property. We will try contacting Bioenergy. Very useful to hear about the different inverters. I think we might want to start with just hot water and extend to power at a later date.
