Hello, my partner and myself are looking at moving to Caleta De Fuste or Costa Antigua in August / September time. My partner is a highly skilled English Plumber with 10+ years of experience. He has also owned his own business for over 4 years. He is also qualified as a Builder, so he can tile roofs, floors and help to build certain things. Also he is highly recommended in the UK as a car mechanic as he has worked on his own for over 7+ years. There is no too big or small, he is very reliable, honest and trustworthy. Check reviews for him on Checkatrade: NSD Plumbing. I'm lucky to have my partner as a man of every trade, so if you are looking for an English qualified handyman, please don't hesitate to contact me.

More skills: Tiling, outside taps, bathrooms, on suites, radiators, thermostatic valves full first fix kitchen plumbing problems etc

Qualifications

Nvq level 2 in domestic heating and plumbing
Nvq in tiling
Plastering qualification

Many thanks

If you are British, or other third country national, I'm afraid that it is extremely doubtful that you will be able to move here to live and work.  A working visa will be required.

However, to have an employed visa is going to be impossible to get as any employer must first prove to the satisfaction of the authorities that any vacant position they have could not be fulfilled by a local person or a person of an EU country. This would be extremely difficult for an employer to do for such a trade.

Another working visa is to be self employed or create a company.  For this you need an extremely detailed business plan, showing that there is no chance it would fail and it would indeed be good for Spain.  Again, extremely hard to do, especially for such a trade.

A third way is if you have a minimum of 500,000€ to invest in Spain, usually in a property.  You can then apply for a golden visa, which allows you to work.

The 'easiest' visa to obtain is the Non-Lucrative Visa, but you are not allowed to work. However, it MIGHT be possible that you can change the visa to a working visa when you come to renew it after a year.  But you would still have to prove viable work to the authorities.

Brexit has screwed so many people up and I am sure NON of those who voted leave actually meant it to go this far. It will be difficult to become a resident as you need to show that have sufficient funds to exist here without being a burden to the state. You can then register as Self-Employed but will be expected to pay Social Security to entitle you to Healthcare and pension, the Social Security payments can be offset aginst you tax.

You should also explore what the work situation is like for professionals such as your partner - especially without speaking Spanish. There are so many people here who think they are builders and do a shocking, and as such give professionals a bad nade, I have my fingers burnt once and am now very nervous aboiyt ex.pat ´tradesmen´.

If you are looking to move here and work without paying any Taxes or being registered. This is now impossioble. It was easy people to do this pre BREXIT and people worked under the RADAR, but now the authorities are catching up with those, prosecuting and deporting them.

Take what you hear for people on Facebook or other forums with a pinch of salt as there are a lot of back-street lawyers who think the know everything.

Always check with the relevant authorities on what the actual situation is such as from the UK Government: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/living-in-spain

Good luck. It all depend on your personal circumstances and sometimes is not as difficult as some people say. Just make sure you don't burn any bridges. I hope you find a solution.

Good luck. I hope you do make it as we need to get rid of the bogus tradesmen and replace them with with professionals.

@Cyberion

"You can then register as Self-Employed"

No, it's not as easy as that for 3rd country nationals.  See my post above, you must get a work visa and they're near impossible to get for this type of trade.

"If you are looking to move here and work without paying any Taxes or being registered. "

That is and always has been illegal, and nobody should be looking to even attempt to do that

You need to go to the Spanish government's site, not the UK one.
