Hi, my wife and I are currently in the process of moving to Fuerteventura. Part of the residency application requires confirmation of private healthcare arranged. This also has to be a Spanish based company.

Could anybody recommend any companies to assist us.

Many Thanks in advance

Mark & Nicky

Hi there we always use a lady called Carolina for all our insurances email: [email protected]  she’s based In Caleta by the puerto del Sol complex. We used her for health care insurance when we first got our residencia.   Very nice lady.  good luck.  Graham.

Hi we have just applied and got lots of really good information from a UK government sponsored website called Age in Spain. (Not just for older people) they gave us all the links to the forms, digital certificates and driving licence exchange. It is a free service and they also have a helpline. Go to gov.uk website as all the details are there. We didn't need private healthcare just evidence of healthcare so we applied for Convenio Especial (public healthcare). You have to pay €60 a month under 65 years and €157 over 65 years. This was a better option for us as many private heath company have exemptions to their cover. It was really easy and we got our health cards quickly. Also I have had to use the service since and the care was excellent. Good luck

Hi Pam,

Just a quick question from your information regarding Healthcare.

As we are in the UK applying for residency, can we still apply for the Spanish public health care that you mentioned and include that in our application.

Many Thanks

Mark & Nicky

Tbh I don't think you can as need to show you have been resident for a year but if you have a property here and you are on the empadronamiento that counts as living here.
